Dogs Are Family Devon - Terms & Conditions
By booking a walk with Dogs Are Family Devon, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before completing your booking.
1. Liability and Responsibility
- Personal Responsibility: You are solely responsible for the safety, health, and well-being of yourself, any accompanying guests, and your dog(s) at all times during the walk.
- Unforeseen Circumstances: Dogs Are Family Devon acts only as a guide for the route. We are not liable for any accidents, injuries, illnesses (e.g., exhaustion, fainting, insect stings/wasp swarms, slips, or falls), or loss of property that may occur during the walk.
- Insurance: While Dogs Are Family Devon holds professional "Dog Walker Insurance" through Petplan, it is strongly recommended that your dog is also individually insured for third-party liability.
2. Booking, Cancellations, and Refunds
- Cancellations: If you need to cancel your booking, you must do so at least 24 hours before the scheduled meeting time to receive a full refund.
- Late Cancellations: Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the start of the walk are strictly non-refundable.
- Meeting Point: Upon booking, you will receive confirmation with exact directions to the meeting point. Please arrive on time, as we are not responsible for any human or dog joining the walk late.
3. Pre-Assessment (Introductory Session)
- Mandatory 1:1 Assessment: For the safety and harmony of the group, any dog unknown to Dogs Are Family Devon must complete a 1:1 introductory assessment session before being allowed to join group pack walks. This allows us to assess your dog's temperament and discuss any specific needs with you.
4. Walk Guidelines and Lead Policy
- Walk Duration: Our walks typically last between 1 to 2 hours maximum.
- Lead Policy: All dogs must be kept on a lead at the start of every walk.
- Off-Lead Time: We carefully select dog-friendly sites that allow for off-lead time. However, there will be times when leads are required. We will explain the specific site requirements and hazards as we walk so you can act accordingly. Each dog is different, and off-lead privileges are at the owner's discretion and responsibility in permitted areas.
5. Additional Requirements
- Group Size: To ensure safety and a quality experience, our group walks are limited to a maximum of 8 people per walk.
- Health and Fitness: Both humans and dogs must be in good general health and physically fit enough to comfortably handle a 1.5 to 2-hour walk. Female dogs in season are welcome to join, provided this is discussed with us in advance so we can safely match them with a group of neutered dogs.
- Microchipping and Tags: By UK law, all dogs must be microchipped and wear a collar with an ID tag displaying the owner's name and address.
- Behaviour: Owners are responsible for their dog's behaviour. If a dog shows continuous extreme aggression towards other dogs or humans, we reserve the right to ask you to leave the walk for the safety of the group.
- Waste: Owners must clean up after their dogs at all times. Please bring an adequate supply of poo bags.
- Photography/Media: We may take photos or short videos during the walks for our social media or website. Our focus is always on capturing the dogs, and we generally avoid taking or publishing pictures of owners' faces. If you do not wish for yourself or your dog to be photographed at all, please inform us prior to the walk.
